                5 Standard Organisation Tips

                1. Write everything you need to do in your diary and check your diary at least once a day - it may seem obvious but this is the cornerstone of organisation. If you prefer an electronic organiser, that works just as well.

                2. Think ahead to the next day. Is there anything that needs to be organised beforehand and how can you best fit in all the things you need to do the following day? Do this every night and you will significantly improve your organisation.

                3. Try to get into the habit of getting things done straight away rather than letting them pile up. When you have a lot of things on your to-do list, tasks start to get away from you and that's when organisation and stress become a problem. An investment of your time now will save time and energy in the long run.

                4. Think time management in all the major areas of your life. What are your major time wasters? How are you using your time each day? Is this working for you or do you need to try another approach? Successful organisers always consider effective time management.  

                5. Regularly ask yourself - what is it that really requires my attention today? What is it that really needs my attention this week? If you have a long to-do list in your mind, write it down on paper or in your electronic organiser and then number your priorities. What's more important, returing the library books or getting your tax return in on time? If you don't get to the last items on your list it's not too bad, if you skip numbers 1, 2 and 3 there might be a problem.
